I can’t believe how Coach Smith’s endorsement stopped me in my tracks this morning.  Like so many North Carolina sons, Dean Smith and Tar Heel basketball are as much a part of my identity as my last name.
I can’t really explain it – I feel proud, hopeful, excited…and wish that I could somehow volunteer to [...]

A year ago, I was feeling pretty crappy. Today, I still feel pretty crappy (from the post-MBA Gala malaise), but couldn’t be happier.
Kelly and I watched the game with ~300 of our closest friends at Spice Street in Chapel Hill. We screamed like idiots when Tyler made the game-clinching jump shots down the [...]

Tonight’s UNC/UNC-Asheville game did nothing to quell my fascination with Kenny George…and neither did the Times article. Some (non-satirical) thoughts on the game…
First of all, UNC-Asheville is pretty darn good. Their guards, Garland and Smithson, were impressive – they kept up with Ellington and Lawson and then some. Plus, the team maintained [...]

UNC Asheville is back in town tomorrow night and that means the return of Kenny George – The Boggs Blog’s favorite 7′6″ basketball player that plays like the Abominable Snowman from the Rudolph Christmas Special…and that also wants to kill me.
Ben is going to the game with me. His reason?
I want to be there [...]

Check out this comment from Rutgers center JR Inman regarding tonight’s game against the Heels and his match-up against Tyler Hansbrough:
“Honestly, I’m not a conceited dude, but I really don’t think he can guard me,” Inman said. “He’s really strong, and he’s a really talented player, don’t get it twisted. He’s a threat to [...]

The Heels open their season tonight against Davidson and I’m too busy to watch.
It’s really a strange feeling because I usually go to great lengths to rearrange my life to watch Carolina basketball – either at home on TV or (preferably) at the Dean Dome.
We’re tied with 4.49 remaining. I hope we win, but [...]

Here’s a (non-satirical) post about the Jan 9, 2008 Kenny George vs. UNC game.
Thanks for reading.
Eric

This past December I posted an entry regarding Kenny George, the gargantuan 7′6″ center for UNC-Asheville. Kelly and I had attended the UNC/UNC-Asheville at the Dean Dome that day and couldn’t stop laughing at this guy.
(Yes – we’re bad [...]

Ugh.

25Mar07

This one hurt.
- Why so many three pointers down the stretch?
- Why don’t we feed the ball to Tyler in the post every time down? He either 1.) scores 2.) gets fouled or 3.) scores and gets fouled.
- Why was the “shot to win the game” drawn up for Wayne “Chucker” Ellington? He [...]

We were down 12 points with with ~12 minutes left and subsequently outscored the Trojans by 22 points for the remainder of the game.
God bless Marcus Ginyard and his timely putbacks.  God bless USC and their epic offensive collapse.  God bless Tim Floyd and his moronic technical foul.

Assuming the Heels take care of business with Eastern Kentucky and the winner of the Michigan State/Marquette game – which is a big assumption considering last year’s George ‘Effing Mason debacle – I hope we see the following storyline unfold:
Texas
The ‘Horns will be a tough out with Jesus Christ Kevin Durant on their team, but [...]
